Trigger

Triggered when users request "migrate to AKS Automatic", "check AKS Automatic readiness", "validate manifests for Automatic compatibility".

Mechanism

Dual assessment: cluster config check (networking, node pools, add-ons) and workload manifest check (Deployment/StatefulSet/DaemonSet etc.).
Auto-detects incompatibilities: missing resource limits, incompatible node selectors, non-CSI storage classes, incompatible tolerations, incompatible network policies.
Auto-generates fix proposals with corrected versions for each incompatible manifest.
Provides step-by-step migration guidance after assessment.

Outcome

Compatibility assessment report (pass/blocker list), auto-generated manifest fix files, and step-by-step migration guidance.

Scenario 01

AKS Automatic Compatibility Assessment

Teams need to assess whether existing AKS Standard clusters and workloads are compatible with AKS Automatic mode. The skill evaluates cluster config (networking, node pools, add-ons) and all workload manifests, identifying incompatibilities like missing pod resource limits, incompatible node selectors, non-CSI storage classes. Generates detailed compatibility report and blocker list.

Scenario 02

AKS Standard to Automatic Migration

After compatibility assessment, teams need to execute the actual migration. The skill auto-fixes identified incompatibilities: adds resource limits to workloads, replaces node selectors, updates storage classes, adjusts network policies. Ensures all Kubernetes manifests meet AKS Automatic requirements and guides the migration flow.
