Trigger

When a user provides a URL of a standard web page (not ending in .md) to read or analyze, such as docs, articles, or blog posts.

Mechanism

Run defuddle parse <url> --md via CLI to strip navigation/ads and output clean markdown
Support saving to file with -o and extracting metadata via -p
Installs globally via npm install -g defuddle if missing

Result

Clean markdown content with reduced tokens, ready for analysis or storage, instead of noisy WebFetch output.

Two Typical Use Cases

Scenario 01

Read online API docs cleanly

A developer needs to read an online API doc page to summarize it. They provide the URL; the agent uses defuddle to extract clean markdown, avoiding nav menus and ads. This saves tokens and gives structured content for quick understanding and note-taking.

Scenario 02

Archive blog post as markdown

A researcher wants to archive a blog post into their knowledge base. Using defuddle with `-o` saves the cleaned markdown locally. The output has no clutter, making it ideal for storage and later search without noise.
