Mechanism
When It Triggers · How It Works · What It Produces
Breaks down how the skill works and what it produces, so you can quickly judge whether it fits your scenario and value.
Trigger Timing
When users want to create a skill from scratch, modify or optimize an existing skill, run evals to test a skill, benchmark performance, or improve a skill's description for better triggering.
Working Mechanism
- Interview user to capture intent, edge cases, and success criteria
- Write SKILL.md draft following progressive disclosure and writing guides
- Generate 2-3 test prompts, spawn with-skill and baseline subagents in parallel
- Use scripts (run_eval.py, generate_report.py, improve_description.py) to run evals and show results via eval-viewer
- Iterate on skill based on qualitative and quantitative feedback
Produced Results
A polished, validated skill with optimized description, benchmark reports, and eval review artifacts that confirm triggering accuracy and output quality.
Use Cases
Two Typical Use Cases
Developer builds reusable workflow skill
A developer wants to package a recurring internal workflow into a reusable Claude skill. Using skill-creator, they interview to capture intent, draft SKILL.md, generate test prompts, and run parallel with-skill/baseline evals. The skill produces a validated, well-triggered skill with benchmark reports, saving future engineering time and ensuring consistent outputs.
Non-coder creates personal style skill
A non-technical user has a writing style they want Claude to adopt. With skill-creator, they describe the style, skip heavy evals per preference, and draft a simple skill. The description improver optimizes triggering. Result is a lightweight skill that reliably applies their voice, demonstrating the flexible, low-code creation path.
